Mrs. Kornegay was born and raised in Raleigh, NC - "GO WOLFPACK!"  She graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. -"GO PIRATES!"  Her degree is in Exercise and Sports Science-Teacher Preparation K-12 with a concentration in Social Science/.History.  She is married to Jeffrey Kornegay and has two children, Evan, a sophomore at Rosewood High School and Emily, an eighth grader at Rosewood Middle.

Mrs. Kornegay enjoys laughing and having fun with all of her students.  Her main focus in PE is "maximum activity, maximum fun".  She loves photographing her students having fun and posting those pictures on the PE bulletin board.  Mrs. Kornegay's main focus is to get kids moving, having fun and them surreptitiously teaching them locomotor and manipulative skills that lead up to team or individual sports and lifetime activities. Her favorite Physical Education reward activity is the game "GA-GA".  All of her students look forward to this game and previous students remember this game fondly. This is normally the day she acts the craziest and jokes around the most with them.  She loves to act silly but she also expects "on task" students.  Her favorite PE rule is
" Treat everyone the way you would treat your favorite grandma".

In her 18th year as a physical educator, Mrs. Kornegay has also taught at School Street Elementary, Carver Elementary, and Brogden Primary. She has been a PE teacher for Rosewood Elementary and has been a Clinical Teacher supervising student interns for East Carolina University for the last eight years. Mrs. Kornegay was named Teacher of the Year for School Street School  2001-2002,  Twiford Award Winner for Special Areas 2001-2002 and Teacher of the Year for Rosewood Elementary 2005-2006.

Mrs. Kornegay spends her "free" time actively involved in Rosewood Boyscout troop 258 and Rosewood Girl Scout troop 249.
