Ms. Tilden

Ms. Tilden

Ms. Tilden graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University in Muncie, IN with a degree in music education as a voice major.  Moving to North Carolina during a time of cut-backs, Ms.Tilden found that music jobs were scarce, so she opened up her music studio, teaching there for over 15 years.  Towards the end of this time, she also taught at St. Michael Catholic School in Cary, NC.

Gradually, Ms. Tilden responded to a call to ministry by completing a Masters of Divinity degree at Duke University, and afterwards, she worked professionally and as a volunteer at several churches.  The highlight of her ministry career was her chaplain residency at WakeMed main campus in Raleigh, where she was one of the chaplains for heart patients.  Yet, Ms. Tilden continued utilizing music with patients, as well as in church settings.

Witnessing cut-backs in education funds and the recent exodus of teachers, Ms. Tilden has felt called back into teaching to lend a helping hand.  She taught music at several schools in Wake County, NC as a longterm sub, transitioning back to teaching.  Plus, she studied at NC State University to add K-6 elementary education to her teaching license.

Ms. Tilden has enjoyed attending workshops throughout the years and loves trying out new ideas with her students.  In addition to earning her Orff Level I Certification, this summer she completed Orff Level 2 Certification  She is beyond thrilled to try out her Orff 2 ideas with her students this fall.  Pictured, she is posing with her Orff professors, Dr. Lisa Runner and Dr. Maribeth Yoder White at Appalachian State University.

Ms. Tilden lives in Raleigh with her husband and two dogs.  Her daughter Jessica is a dance/preschool teacher at Arts Together in Raleigh, and Jasmine is a music therapy student at Appalachian State University.
